It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I write this letter to honor the memory of my beloved wife, Lacey Elkins, who left this world unexpectedly. Lacey was not only my life partner but also a dedicated mother to our two children, Roman and Julian. She was a pillar of strength and love in our family, and her untimely departure has left a void that can never be filled.
Lacey and I shared eight beautiful years together, during which we built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless precious moments. We were blessed with two incredible children, Roman and Julian, who are now 6 and 2 years old. Lacey poured her heart and soul into being a loving and nurturing mother, and her impact on our children's lives is immeasurable.
Lacey was a woman of remarkable character, a hardworking and motivated individual who approached life with passion and purpose. Her dedication to the causes she believed in was evident in every aspect of her life. Lacey was particularly passionate about substance abuse and mental health, viewing them not merely as societal issues but as battles that needed champions.
Each day, Lacey woke up with a mission – a mission to fight for those who were silently suffering from addiction. Her unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of those struggling with substance abuse and mental health challenges was truly inspiring. Lacey was a voice for the voiceless, a beacon of hope for the lost, and a source of strength for the vulnerable.
As her husband, I am committed to carrying forward Lacey's legacy and continuing the work she held so dear. I will honor her passion for substance abuse and mental health advocacy for as long as I draw breath. Lacey's spirit will live on through me, and I will do my best to instill her values and dedication in our children, ensuring that they grow up understanding the importance of compassion, empathy, and fighting for what is right.
The outpouring of support from friends, family, and the community has been a source of solace. I am grateful for the memories we shared and the impact Lacey had on so many lives. As we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman, let us also celebrate the life she lived and the positive change she brought to the world.
May Lacey's memory be a blessing, and may her legacy inspire us all to make a difference in the lives of others, just as she did.
The Lacey Elkins Foundation for Substance Abuse & Mental Health Awareness will continue Lacey’s fight.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Patrick Elkins
